1/22/2024 0 Comments Rimworld reddit saleMy recommendation is that if you're a new buyer do not buy the Royalty DLC with the base game. It was designed to add content for experienced players who are looking for new things to explore in the end game and wanted a new victory condition other than building the ship. The first DLC that ever got released was the Royalty DLC (circa February 24th 2020) which adds in a new faction, new items, unique quests and an entire psyonic skill set that gives colonists access to psychic powers at the cost of efficiency. But it probably won't be any time soon.įor nearly 5 years the game existed without any real DLC and still got positive reviews. There is no word on when that first sale will take place because I don't even think Tynan himself knows when that will be. I said at that time, "Of course it'll be on sale eventually, but that's probably years away"Ī sale probably will happen but not anytime soon. You'll see in this July 2016 Reddit post I note that RimWorld could go on sale someday. That would be a pretty extreme position and it's one I have never held. Tynan has said the following statement publicly in a separate thread: It is now almost 4 years later and the game is now in its full release and still has never gone on sale. Post-Edit: At the time of writing this thread way back in 2017 the game was still in Alpha and there had never been a sale. Save your breath on the people who want to complain about the game and let this thread be the universal answer to why the game never goes on sale. I know that more complaint threads about Rimworld not going on sale are bound to happen and when they do I want those of you who do enjoy this game and agree with my points to give this thread a bump. I bet it's a lower price than your time spent on all the games you spent that much time in. Now divide the hours played by 30 and that's how much we paid an hour to play this game. You will see nearly everyone with 100+ hours spent playing with multiple people exceeding 1000 hours played. Now go and check the profile history of the people on this discussion board and see how many hours they invested in the game. I bet you paid more than $30 $35 and played less than 250 hours on most of the games you you are comparing this too. You probably won't ever see those prices again, so if your strategy is to wait it out until it does go down you will be disappointed because it is extremely likely it will go up a couple times before it ever goes down.īut if you still feel like $30 $35 is too steep then find some games you do already own and check how much play time you got out of it before being bored. The people who bought Rimworld for $30 or $25 bought the game when it was still in Alpha ($30) and before it was even available on steam for purchase ($25). $30 is the one time fee that you pay, you pay nothing more beyond that. It won't be going down and the sooner you do buy it, the more enjoyment you will potentially get out of it. The price tag of $30 is steep for some of you. The only other reason you buy this feature is if you have some extra cash lying around and you want Tynan to have some of it. Otherwise it is totally unnecessary in most cases. You can download a mod for free to do exactly this (all mods are free), but if you're unabashedly conceited and want other random strangers to have your own custom character show up in their games then this DLC may interest you. What you are paying extra for is to add your own custom character into the vanilla game. The "Name in game" options are not actually DLC. None of the game gets hidden behind any "pay-to-play" DLC features that many other video game developers seem to be so fond of these days. And any new features Tynan concocts for the game gets updated and patched to the game for everyone, free of charge. This game has more content and is more polished than many "full release" games. $30 $35 is already a generous offer for what you are getting. The game is made by one guy (Tynan Sylvester) and is a product of nearly five years worth of his blood, sweat and tears. And the answer is always the same: Never but it may go up in price. The question "when will this game go on sale?" gets asked on a regular, almost daily basis.
